About us

Hi! ¡Hola! Salam!

My name is Lida, founder of Miss Sunshine & Co.

I was born in Granada, Spain, I’m the second daughter of two amazing human beings who left their beloved country, Iran, in 1979, having me years later in Spain, when they started a new life there.

I grew up surrounded by love, discipline and hard work. My father taught my sister and I, since we were little, that if we want something we have to fight for it, that we are not more or less than anyone and that we are capable of anything, if we are consistent.

He taught us to not let others opinions or behaviors affect the way we are or act and that education is the most precious gift we can give to ourselves. Books are the food for your brain, he used to say.

My father wanted us to dream, to Dream Big, to be independent and to draw our future in our own terms, based on what makes us happy. He never taught us that the main goal of a woman is to get married or to have children, he used to spend his free time teaching us mechanics, electricity, or maths, we were his girls and he wanted us to be unstoppable.

Growing up, I was never afraid of anything, and always loved to do new things, meet different people or help others in unfortunate situations, trying to be a better version of myself. I remember seeing my father preparing sandwiches for homeless people and offering them his help, he was such an amazing example of love.

By the end of May of 2007, he was diagnosed with lung cancer, leaving us three weeks later. I can tell you with tears in my eyes, that he fought until his very last breath, he didn’t want to die, he even told me many times that he still had so many things to do and that he’d fight until the end, as he did.

I was devastated, lost, alone, empty, in silence.

I didn’t want to be with anyone, I didn’t want to be awake, I didn’t want to think, I just wanted someone to tell me that it was a bad dream and that everything was going to be ok.

For the next seven years I tried to find myself, try new jobs, meet new people or start new relationships, but I used to always end up with the feeling of being in a place that I don’t belong anymore.

It was the summer of 2014, when my loving cousins came to visit us, from USA, that I opened my heart, explaining them the need I had of a big change in my life, that I was thinking of going back to school, get new opportunities, and finally feel that I’m moving forward, closing what has been the hardest chapter of my life.

I started living in beautiful Arizona in August of  2015, and it has been the best decision I’ve ever made!

It was the first time in years that I felt I’m in the right place and even though the first year was very hard and challenging, I still knew that I was where I have to be.

I’ve always had in the back of my mind the idea of having my retail business, developing my own brand, while giving back to the community. I truly believe in supporting and empowering women and children, as well as teaching younger generations that we, as women, are capable of anything, just as men are.

At the same time, I wanted to offer fashion accessories and home decor curated pieces that are eco-friendly, with high quality materials and certified, at a fair price, partnering with different organizations with the goal of making the world a better place.

We are all the same, beautiful women that want to be valued as the humans that we are, so let’s help each other, love each other and BE for each other.

I would love to help all the women I can in being happier, reaching their goals and moving forward.

We just have one life, make it precious and meaningful, it’s yours, you own it, write and re-write your story as many times as you want, need, or feel, try it one more time, start all over again, it doesn’t matter, it’s part of the journey, YOUR journey and I want you to shine, to be big and wonderful, because as I used to tell my friends back in Spain, SOMOS PODEROSAS!/WE ARE POWERFUL!

With love,

Lida Amini | Miss Sunshine & Co., Founder
